What Is a Running Clock?

A running clock is a large digital display used to show elapsed time during a road race, marathon, cross country meet, triathlon or other timed event. Running clocks are commonly positioned at the start line, finish line, major course checkpoints or transition areas so participants and spectators can easily see the event time.

RunningClocks.com provides professional LED running clocks for race timers, race directors, schools, timing companies and event organizers. Our goal is straightforward: offer a bright, modern and easy-to-use race clock at a much more approachable price than traditional competition clocks.

You should not have to choose between a visible professional display and a reasonable equipment budget. Our clocks deliver the core race-day timing functions most events need in a clean, portable format.

More Than a Basic Race Timer

The included wireless remote lets you select and control multiple timing and display modes. The remote is not currently Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled. It communicates directly with the running clock and does not require an app or computer.

Race Timer

Count upward from zero in hours, minutes and seconds. Start, stop, resume or reset the race time using the included remote.

Count-Up Timer

Begin counting upward from a custom preset time for flexible event, workout and training applications.

Countdown Timer

Set a countdown in hours, minutes and seconds for race starts, event schedules, warmups or timed activities.

Stopwatch

Count upward from zero while displaying minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second.

Interval Timer

Program repeating work and rest periods for structured workouts, fitness testing and training events.

Real-Time Clock

Display the current time in either 12-hour or 24-hour format when the clock is not being used to time a race.

Built for Race Timers and Event Professionals

Most running clocks are purchased by professional timing companies and race directors who need dependable equipment they can transport from event to event. A race clock must be easy to set up, easy for staff to operate and bright enough to remain useful in real race-day conditions.

Our clocks are also a practical option for schools, universities, running clubs, parks and recreation departments, military fitness programs, police academies, fire departments and organizations hosting recurring timed events.

  • Professional race timing companies
  • Independent race directors
  • Running clubs and event organizers
  • Schools and universities

What to Look for When Buying a Running Clock

Visibility

The entire purpose of a running clock is to display race time clearly. Large, bright digits help runners locate the clock as they approach the finish and make the displayed time easier for spectators and photographers to see.

Price

Traditional race clocks can be extremely expensive, especially for timing companies that need several displays. A more affordable clock allows growing timing businesses to add equipment, cover additional checkpoints and keep backup units available without committing an excessive amount of capital.

Portability

Race equipment frequently moves between city streets, trails, school campuses, parks and temporary finish-line structures. Choose a clock that fits your transportation and setup process.

Ease of Use

Volunteers and event staff should be able to operate essential functions without navigating complicated software. Direct remote controls make it easier to start, stop, resume and reset the display.

Timing-System Compatibility

Determine whether you need a standalone running clock or a display that receives data from a professional race-timing system. Our current running clock operates as a standalone timer controlled by its included remote. It is not currently compatible with FinishLynx, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi timing data.
